Find your Safety Pilot, Hour Building Buddy, or Instructor
Find experienced pilots for safety support, hour building, cost-sharing trips, challenging airports, confidence flights, and ATPL or PPL theory instruction.
Compare aircraft experience, ratings, countries flown, availability, rates, and profile type in one focused European GA network.
Search the right match
Build a very specific search instead of browsing random profiles. Combine operational, experience, location, price, and availability filters to find pilots who actually fit your flight.
Compare experience and fit
Open profiles to understand whether someone is the right fit for your aircraft, route, confidence level, and flying goal before you make contact.
Connect directly
When a profile looks suitable, contact the pilot through the platform and agree the practical details for the flight or session.
What kind of pilot or aviation user are you looking for?
Roles help users understand legal status, intended service type, and practical expectations. A role is a declared status, not a guarantee of competence for a specific flight.
Safety Pilot
A current pilot who accompanies another pilot to provide lookout, operational support, confidence assistance, preparation support, or backup during flight.
Usually does not log hours unless acting as legal PIC or under another valid logging basis.
Flight Instructor — FI / CRI
A Flight Instructor or Class Rating Instructor who can provide structured practical training, refreshers, check preparation, and aircraft-specific support.
Most instruction for a new licence or rating requires direct DTO or ATO involvement.
Hour Building Buddy
A current pilot primarily interested in accumulating flight hours efficiently and economically, usually through legal cost-sharing with another pilot.
Logging depends on who acts as PIC, who manipulates controls, and the legal structure of the flight.
Flying Partner
A current pilot looking for shared aviation goals rather than pure hour building, such as multi-day trips, foreign destinations, or regular flying partnerships.
Best for destination flying, longer trips, special airports, shared planning, and recurring flying partnerships.
Theoretical Instructor
Provides theoretical support for LAPL, PPL, CPL, ATPL, IR, MEP, and other aviation subjects through tutoring, explanation, and exam preparation.
Outside a DTO or ATO, theory support usually does not count toward formal minimum training requirements.
Student Pilot
A user engaged in theoretical or practical flight training. Student pilots may seek instruction, theory support, or aviation contacts, but cannot independently offer flying services.
May only act as PIC when specifically authorised under supervised solo conditions within a DTO or ATO framework.
Pilot — Not Current
Someone who previously held a pilot licence or rating but is not currently flying, current, medically valid, or legally able to exercise flying privileges.
Indicates prior aviation experience and knowledge, but no current legal flying privileges.
User — No Aviation Training
A non-pilot user, future pilot, aviation enthusiast, operations person, or maintenance professional who wants access to the CockpitMatch community.
May find someone to fly with, but cannot log hours outside an appropriate DTO or ATO training structure.
